RASHŌMON - Nin-Gen MLP (LUNGS-180) Much like the classic Japanese bands we all know and love, RASHŌMON has never rushed to release anything. They wait until the time is right to completely raze your dome with their densely packed Tokyo via DC hardcore. (Did DEATH SIDE ever cover an ARTIFICIAL PEACE song? Probably not but if they did it might sound something like this. Maybe. Anyway...) Add the absolutely sloth-like pandemic production schedule and that had us frothing for ages. Almost long enough to give up and go home but that would be foolish since that is just not what punk does. Careening effortlessly between anthemic and cerebral, despair and optimism - "Nin-Gen" provides a destructive, cathartic release from the ugliness that has become our day-to-day existence, as well as fostering just enough anger and hope within us to make tomorrow worth fighting for. 500 copies on 150gr black vinyl with an etched B-side housed in a 24pt reverse board jacket with riso print poster insert and download card included. Both are furious and immediate and work together in perfect harmony here without really sounding like either exactly. New, important music is made this way. NUDITY - Astronomicon LP w/download (LUNGS-062) "Astronomicon features driving uptempo beats, ringing choruses, and twin-guitar harmonies that segue into improvised jams invoking the MC5 at their Sun Ra-channeling best, cruise through talkbox-laden breakdowns and finish with pulse-revving big bang crescendos. Inspiration for the tracks came from places as lofty as long summers spent working fire lookouts on remote mountaintops, to lowly as a need for cathartic musical release after inter-band fights. As its arresting cover imagery (painted by Brittany Stallings) suggests, Nudity pulls listeners to a place where the earthiest, most carnal human attributes bend around to meet supernal desires, while vouching that lovers of grit-filled Rock'n'roll get a headbanging fix. You can liken it to time travel, space travel, or space-time travel, but once on board, Nudity will take you to sonic frontiers in a style all their own.
