Exciting new Hardcore Punk music from Sydney featuring familiar faces from groups such as Morte Lenta, Sepsis, Mundo Primitivo, Dominant Hand, The Crankees etc. Frankly, a bunch of individuals I’m glad to see doing a new band.

Out of all the releases on Queensland’s R.I.P. Peace label, who’re becoming a bit of a welcome institution for modern anarcho-ish punk, I reckon this one has the most USHC (United States Hardcore), or even Punk Rock heart of the bunch.

The labels description references Totalitar and MOB 47 of Sweden, Ratos de Parao of Brazil, Poison Idea of Portland, but for some obtuse reason Vasta Ruína remind me of how Cleveland’s 9 Shocks Terror injected a variety of global offshoots of USHC and UK82 back into their own Cleveland HC tradition. If you identify as a fan of the universally enjoyed groups Germs and Gauze, I’d suggest you give it a go. Fresh, rockin’, untamed stuff! — Nic (Repressed Records)
