SOCIETY OF FRIENDS - Growing Up Moving Away LP
In the late 90's, Austin TX housed a band that defied all category and logic. Akin to powerviolence or thrash or hardcore but not any one of those things per se. They were without doubt one of the best live bands to ever come from that city. Odd speed picking and manic riffing, crazy song structures, near fall apart drumming, a vocalist that gravity seemed to have no effect on. The shit was beautiful. They quietly disappeared but left a lasting mark on anyone who saw them. This is their only full length album.

The singer, August, ended up in many bands (mostly) based out of Portland OR years later, Lords Of Light, Walls, Pleasure Cross, Pig Heart Transplant, Silentist and many more... but S.O.F. is where the magic all started for us.
